The care I received by Dr Werner Pretorius at Psychiatry-UK was very much appreciated. Dr P was thorough in making sure going down the medication route was safe and he was kind and patient. He was easy to talk to and his occasional humour enabled me to feel comfortable in sharing any concerns or questions. He was well prepared at our online consultations and very knowledgable about the symptoms I had coped with since childhood with ADHD. He helped me to understand better how to balance my circumstances as an older person having ADHD and providing full time care for my husband. In conclusion, I was delighted to have had a diagnosis and the care provided at Psychiatry UK.

For years I put off going through with an ADHD diagnosis, rang up my GP last year and was referred to Psychiatry-UK. Had my consultation a couple months afterwards and then put onto the titration waiting list. Titration started sooner than the stated waiting times which was great! Through the titration period, my prescriber (Not sure If I'm allowed to name on here) was absolutely brilliant, handled all my queries quickly and provided plenty of information. He allowed me to try multiple brands of medication as I felt the first couple weren't working as intended, and found one which worked best for me. My full experience from start to finish was really good, mostly due to having a great prescriber and now currently at the end of review stage. As someone who has been told multiple times since young that It was evident I shown many ADHD symptoms I never wanted to go through with getting diagnosed, but after finally doing It I cannot recommend it enough. The medication has genuinely changed my life for the better.

Unfortunately, I had issues with communication and being told times that were actually extended by 3/4 weeks and as someone with Autism as well, this was extremely overwhelming and distressing for myself. I did get my ADHD diagnosis but the admin side and communication and the overuse of bold, you must do this by this date was very overwhelming for myself.

They actually listen to you and try to help you explain things, and are thorough, rather than rushing to push you into something or trying to remove you from help you might need.

I have received a great service from P-UK over the past year and a half. Private ASD assessment and NHS RTC ADHD Assessment with Dr Owen Roberts and ADHD titration with Lorraine. Both excellent and caring professionals. I felt well looked after and listened too at all times. The portal worked well for me. For a service that is very over-subscribed at the moment, I was really impressed. Thanks to both of my clinicians who I felt very lucky to have. Having the diagnosis and now the meds has had a significant positive effect on my life.

My concerns were always listened to and contact with my prescriber was extremely good. We explored various medication routes before settling on Elvanse working for me, the care I received when exploring the routes was always good quality and even when the medication shortage was ongoing effecting my prescriptions and titration progress I could still contact my prescriber for reassurance and advice. I would highly recommend psychiatry UK when dealing with an ADHD diagnosis.

Psychiatry UK and 'Right to Choose' is a good way to quickly access diagnoses and care (mine was a 6mths wait). It's not perfect and my GP said that if medication was recommended he was not prepared to accept diagnoses or medication requests from them, so bear this in mind if you think you're going to need meds. But that is an issue with the relationship between Psychiatry UK and GPs, not the care I received.

Overall my experience was good. I did not have to wait too long for my assessment. The assessment itself was a bit shorter than I expected. I had to wait quite a while for titration and then when I reached the top of that waiting list I had difficulty navigating the portal and was discharged for not answering some questions in one area by the deadline when I had focused on completing all the pending forms. I then had to be referred again by my GP and waited another 6 months for titration. This was quite frustrating and upsetting. Clive who handled my titration was fantastic, very responsive, clear communication helped me try another drug when the first one did not work out and able to answer all my questions
